IFAT Eurasia has once again proven to be the most important platform for environmental technologies in Türkiye and the neighboring regions after difficult years due to the pandemic. It is bringing together decision-makers and buyers from Asia and Europe. Compared to 2021, exhibitor participation has almost doubled.
The Turkish government is investing heavily in infrastructure for drinking water, wastewater and solid waste. A current development plan includes the construction of 1,400 new wastewater treatment plants and 30,000 kilometers of sewers, with a total investment of more than 18 billion euros. After the earthquake, the focus in many places is on rebuilding infrastructure. "The need for information and networking in the face of the challenges is great and this is reflected in the participation at IFAT Eurasia in Istanbul, with the number of exhibitors almost doubling," reports Ilker Altun, Managing Director of the organizer EKO MMI Fuarcılık. “IFAT Eurasia has thus impressively confirmed itself as a significant part of our global trade fair network for environmental technologies", explains Katharina Schlegel, Director IFAT trade fairs abroad at Messe München.
203 exhibitors representing 381 brands from 10 countries exhibited on 28,800 square meters. In 2021, 106 exhibitors from 6 countries exhibited on 18,000 square meters. Included were international joint stands from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and China. The top 3 exhibiting countries were Türkiye, China and Germany. Among the exhibitors were Andritz Seperation, Benli Geri Dönüşüm, Disan, DKY Valves & Controls, Gea Türkiye, Haus Centrifuge Technologies, İdeal Makina, İstaç, İzaydas, Jumo Ölçu Sistemleri, Öz-Kan Makina, Teknik Aritma, Tomra Sorting and Xylem Türkiye.
The show also saw many high quality participants, with 8,764 industry representatives traveling from 80 countries. “We are fully satisfied with the trade fair and the visitor target groups reached. We had visitors not only from Türkiye, but also from the United Arab Emirates, Romania or the Czech Republic,” reported Martin Steinbichler, Procurist/Head of Sales & Services, PÖTTINGER Entsorgungstechnik. Serdar Bakanoglu, Sales Manager of AERZEN Makine, adds: “Everything was perfect. We had many visitors from different countries, e.g from Russia and Africa. We weren’t expecting these visitors and their quality was satisfactory."
In addition to the exhibition, there was an extensive supporting program that focused, among other things, on Zero waste management, on German-Turkish solutions for digitalization and automation in the water sector, and on waste management in the healthcare sector. Local partners included among others the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Turkish Republic, the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA) and the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA). A dedicated information and networking program was offered to support post-earthquake reconstruction. Another highlight of the supporting program was the International Environmental Conference, in short: IREMCON. Under the banner of “Combating Global Climate Change and Strengthening International Cooperation in Waste Management”, the leading environmental conference of Türkiye and the entire Balkan region took place for the forth time as partner of IFAT Eurasia.
