IFAT Munich 2022 once again featured a variety of pavilions and state participation opportunities. These were organized by renowned national and international institutions and associations representing the entire breadth of the industry.


International pavilions

A fitting alternative to an individual stand, the international pavilions attract a lot of visitors during the trade fair. When representing your country, you can present the solutions, perspectives, and challenges of your nation and your company.

AUSSENWIRTSCHAFT AUSTRIA provides Austrian companies with the opportunity to showcase their products to an international audience at representative Austrian stands or pavilions at around 100 international trade fairs every year as part of Austrian group exhibitions, go international Austrian stands, or neighborhood trade fairs. A group exhibition is also being organized for IFAT 2024.

There will be once again Chinese pavilions organized by Messe Muenchen Shanghai on IFAT 2024. The pavilions will be mainly located in the water / water treatment section and refuse treatment and recycling section, as well as flue-gas scrubbing and air extraction / air-pollution control section, pump section, fittings section and water supply and sewerage systems section of the trade show. Companies interested in exhibiting within the pavilions will receive funding and support from respective provincial governments. Messe Muenchen Shanghai and its partners will offer a full service solution including layout plan, high-quality stand construction, communication and on-site support in Chinese. The pavilions will include standard packages and premium packages of varying sizes with China branding and will have a pavilion leaflet for pavilion exhibitors to showcase their products and get in contact with their potential customers.

Netherlands Water Partnership
The Netherlands Pavilion (water tech) is being coordinated by The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) and its partners Water Alliance and Envaqua. The Netherlands Water Partnership is a comprehensive network that unites Dutch water expertise. The Water Environment Federation (WEF) created the International Pavilion Program in 2008 to make it easier for companies to exhibit at major water/wastewater shows around the world. Under the program, WEF purchases exhibition space with the major international water quality shows and constructs a pavilion with booth space set below the minimum required by most international shows. WEF provides a fully-built and furnished booth (3x3 meter minimum) in a prime location, one WEFTEC Priority Point towards next year’s WEFTEC booth selection, pre-show marketing through WEF publications, translation and refreshment services, lounge area, etc.

ak dmaw

The members of the ak dmaw (working group for data management in environmental and waste management) design information and communication processes for more than 80 percent of all waste management companies and their customers in Germany. Fachvereinigung Betonrohre und Stahlbetonrohre e. V. (FBS)

At IFAT 2022, the German Association for Concrete Pipes and Reinforced Concrete Pipes (FBS) and its member companies will present themselves with a 400-m² joint pavilion. The association was founded in 1987 and since then has represented the interests of its member companies, all of them manufacturers of premium products made of concrete and reinforced concrete. In addition to being involved in committees of the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) and the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA), FBS and its quality seal "FBS-Qualität" stand for enhanced product requirements in the subterranean infrastructure, going beyond the specifications of existing standards. The goal is to create a reliable and durable infrastructure that exceeds the requirements of clients and consumers. ITAD Interessensgemeinschaft der Thermischen Abfallbehandlungsanlagen in Deutschland e.V.

The German Association of Waste-to-Energy Plants (ITAD) represents the interests of operators and owners of thermal waste treatment plants (classical municipal waste incineration plants, RDF plants and sewage sludge incineration plants).

ITAD is the association of all German municipal waste incineration plants and many RDF plants (more than 90 plants in total). It supports the interests of the environment as well as of the fee payers, of trade and industry towards the public, politics and authorities and represents the interests of the members in the European Union, in Germany and in the federal states. ITAD provides information on the benefits of thermal waste treatment plants through public relations, research projects and more.

KUMAS UMWELTNETZWERK (environmental network) was founded in 1998 as part of the high-tech campaign of the Bavarian state government. Around 180 KUMAS members such as companies, municipalities, chambers of commerce as well as scientific and educational institutions are committed to the use of innovative, environmentally sound products and services and contribute to improving environmental quality. KUMAS promotes the environmental competence of its members in many ways. The KUMAS congresses “Bavarian Waste and Landfill Days”, “Bavarian Immission Control Days” and “Bavarian Water Days” are known far beyond Bavaria and increase the environmental competence in the specialist circles. KUMAS' own environmental award "KUMAS Leitprojekte" (KUMAS Lead Projects) is presented annually to projects that are particularly suited to demonstrate environmental competence.

At IFAT, KUMAS will present the UMWELTNETZWERK (environmental network) to the international audience and is represented by network members at the KUMAS joint pavilion. Those who are interested in participating, please contact the head office.

Leipzig Chamber of Industry and Commerce

In 2024, Saxon companies will again be presenting their products and services at a joint company pavilion. In the past years, the pavilion organized by the Saxon Chambers of Industry and Commerce has already convinced as an industry meeting point and platform for the exchange of experience and knowledge.

Visitors can find out about sustainable technologies and concepts for energy-efficient and resource-saving water, sewage, waste and raw materials management and make contact with companies in this sector.

The environmental awareness of Saxony-based companies is also reflected in the “Umweltallianz Sachsen” (Saxony Environment Alliance) initiative, a 20-year cooperation between the Free State of Saxony and the Saxon economy with the aim of strengthening environmentally friendly business in Saxony. The focus is on solution-oriented communication between the Free State of Saxony and Saxon companies in the field of environmental protection. Companies possessing an implemented environmental management system are well positioned to participate in the award process in this alliance.

The export network for the German recycling and waste management industry. RETech's activities focus on promoting the application of sustainable environmental technology in the German circular economy abroad. With its approximately 100 members, the Municipal Vehicles and Equipment Industry Association (VAK) offers the industry a platform for shaping environmental policy and specifically promotes the interests of companies involved in the development, manufacture and sale of municipal vehicles and equipment. The association also strengthens the entrepreneurial concerns of suppliers in the superstructure and equipment industry. VKU Verband Kommunaler Unternehmen

The Association of Local Utilities (VKU) represents the interests of the local utility sector in Germany. The more than 1,500 member companies organized in the VKU are primarily active in energy supply, water and sewage management, waste management and municipal cleaning, and telecommunications. With around 293,200 employees, they generated sales revenues of around €123 billion and invested around €16.4 billion in 2020. Currently, around 206 municipal companies are involved in expanding broadband networks. They invested more than €957 million per year.
