How can cities and towns successfully tackle climate change and its consequences? This was one of the topics discussed at the press conference at IFAT Munich, together with Munich's urban drainage system. IFAT Munich is the platform when it comes to innovative environmental technologies from all sectors.
Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke and Bavarian Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber opened IFAT Munich 2024 today, Monday, May 13. The theme of this year's world's leading trade fair for environmental technology is “Adapting to the results of climate change.”
The outstanding political importance of climate resilience and the circular economy was underlined by the words of welcome that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz addressed specifically to the exhibitors and visitors at IFAT Munich.
In his video message, he emphasized the great economic relevance of the industry. He also pointed out that a more circular economy is one of the most obvious answers to current issues such as supply chain stability, de-risking and raw material security. “We want to create good framework conditions so that your industry continues to grow,” said Scholz in his message. “Everything else you need for this - innovative companies, pioneering technologies and exciting products - can be found at IFAT.”
