In a keynote speech followed by a panel discussion, the complexity of waste and recycling management will be briefly presented and then discussed. The aim is to highlight that the technology for treating waste and recycling only works if other framework conditions, which are determined by politics, society, financing options and the market, are designed accordingly. The so-called 5-stage model was developed within RETech, which will be used and discussed for illustration purposes.
