Circular Textiles (BDE)

BDE and Gesamtverband textil+mode present Spotlight Area Circular Textiles

With the Spotlight Area Circular Textiles, the BDE Federal Association of the German Waste Management, Water, and Recycling Industry and the German Textile and Fashion Industry Association, together with players from the textile, collection, sorting, and recycling industries, are presenting best practice examples relating to the textile circular economy.

From the collection and sorting of used textiles to mechanical and chemical recycling processes and the use of recovered fibers in new products, innovative approaches are being showcased that are already successfully closing textile cycles.

In addition, research institutes will present scientific projects in the context of textile recycling that can make a key contribution to the further development of circular processes. Technological innovations and circular business models that are necessary for a sustainable and competitive textile circular economy will be on display.

The accompanying supporting program will focus on discussions about regulatory requirements and will use various formats to discuss the successful implementation of a jointly successful circular economy. This includes:

  • requirements for design for recycling/circularity,
  • sorting technologies,
  • the development of recycling infrastructure,
  • fiber-to-fiber recycling,
  • integration into European and global supply chains, and
  • measures to strengthen circular material flows.

The BDE and Gesamtverband textil+mode, together with the Spotlight Area Circular Textiles, will demonstrate how Germany and Europe can shape the transition to a circular textile economy using concrete examples, relevant research, and strategic partnerships along the entire value chain. The trade fair presentation will be rounded off by a diverse program of panel discussions, short lectures, and presentations addressing key material flows, future issues, and current challenges facing the industry.
