Good reasons to visit
Car recycling with e-car special (BDSV)
Absolutely worth seeing! How large machines dismantle end-of-life vehicles into their individual parts on the IFAT Munich outdoor area is fascinating. Innovative recycling technologies for electromobility and metal recycling will also be demonstrated.
At IFAT Munich 2026, the BDSV (Federal Association of German Steel Recycling and Waste Management Companies) will focus on the role of the steel and metal recycling industry in “green steel”.
In addition to the well-established topic of end-of-life vehicle recycling, we will place a much stronger focus on the processing of steel and metal scrap. The background to this is the transformation of the steel industry towards more climate-friendly production routes. High-quality recycled raw materials are needed to produce more low-carbon steels. We will be showcasing modern processing technology with a practical demonstration at IFAT Munich 2026.
Another focus of our presentation will be fire protection in recycling plants – in particular the early detection and extinguishing of incipient fires. At IFAT, we will be presenting solutions that enable companies to better protect themselves, detect fires at an early stage, and effectively combat incipient fires. The live demonstrations will be accompanied by a selection of accessories and equipment specially tailored to the needs of steel and metal recycling companies.
Live demonstration of high-quality recycling
The individual treatment steps of the recycling processes at a glance. Live on site. At the IFAT Munich live demonstration of high-quality end-of-life vehicle recycling, the following processing cycle will be presented to you in detail:
- Environmentally friendly storage of end-of-life vehicles
- Removal of recyclable spare parts
- Removal and disposal of hazardous components
- Removal and disposal of fluids
- Sorting processes
- Transport compaction / press
Complete Electric Vehicle Recycling—Status Quo
Safe, efficient & profitable electric vehicle recycling is definitely based on appropriate HV training, professional equipment and secure facilities. It is common knowledge that whenever high voltage lithium-ion accumulators are involved in the recycling process, strict safety measures must be applied, and it surely becomes one of the main concerns of the recycling industry worldwide. During IFAT Munich 2024, SEDA-Umwelttechnik GmbH will be presenting its reliable & acknowledged turn-key solutions to provide for safe, environmentally friendly and effective recycling of electric vehicles internationally.
Experience what machines are capable of
Get up to speed with the latest technology. The live demonstration at the IFAT outdoor exhibition area provides valuable visual material for dismantling companies and shredder plant operators. Visit the demonstration and gain unique insight into the complex recycling processes—including technical aspects relating to electric vehicles and high-voltage systems.
The demonstration is particularly interesting for representatives of cities and municipalities, who can obtain comprehensive information about the possibilities of recycling materials from electric mobility. But the live demonstration is also an impressive experience for visitors who are not familiar with the subject. So be sure to plan a short stop at the car recycling demonstration during your visit to IFAT Munich.
In dialog with the legislator
IFAT Munich aims to provide new information on the legal situation and technical solutions for dismantling companies. Since the introduction of EU regulations on end-of-life vehicles, the quality requirements for recycling processes have been continuously developed. The EU is currently working on a new regulation on vehicle circularity and the management of end-of-life vehicles, which is intended to address the entire vehicle life cycle from design and production to end-of-life treatment.
The requirements of the End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation in Germany and the EU regulations affect the entire recycling chain: manufacturers, vehicle owners, and dismantling companies are responsible links in the chain – dismantling companies in particular play an important role through the efficient pre-treatment of materials.
The IFAT Munich platform, as the world's leading trade fair for environmental technologies, offers a great opportunity to optimize recycling processes and develop practical, targeted solutions in dialogue with politics and industry. IFAT Munich, together with the participating associations and exhibiting companies, thus makes a valuable contribution to understanding the complex treatment processes.
