Mumbai: IFAT India 2025—the country’s largest trade fair for water, sewage, solid waste and recycling technologies—will be held from October 14–16 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), Mumbai. Organised by Messe Muenchen India, the event is projected to be the biggest-ever edition, bringing together global innovators, domestic buyers, and policymakers amid mounting environmental and infrastructure pressures.

Covering 45,000 sqm, this year’s fair will host 500+ exhibitors from 30+ countries and an estimated 28,000+ trade visitors from 50+ nations. International presence will be strong, with country pavilions from Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, South Korea, Hungary and Australia.

India is at an inflection point where waste and water solutions are no longer optional, but central to sustainable economic growth,” said Bhupinder Singh, President IMEA (India, Middle East, Africa), Messe München, and CEO of Messe Muenchen India. “IFAT India has become a trusted platform for technology transfer, investment exploration, and business networking. With record participation this year, we expect strong global collaborations.

Deal-Making Platform

Organisers expect 2,000+ structured buyer-seller meetings, connecting solution providers with municipal authorities, EPC contractors, and corporate procurement heads. More than 15,000 solutions will be showcased, spanning effluent treatment, sludge management, waste-to-energy, and recycling automation.

The show is increasingly seen as a procurement hub for corporates under ESG mandates. Industry analysts estimate compliance-driven investments in solid waste and effluent treatment could reach ₹35,000–40,000 crore over the next five years.

Conferences & Special Pavilions

A three-day conference program will feature 40+ technical sessions and 400+ speakers, including policymakers, financiers, and global sustainability experts. Sessions will explore ESG financing, PPP models in urban waste management, and industrial decarbonisation.

Dedicated pavilions will spotlight emerging areas: Bio-Energy, SWAN Pavilion, Start-up Pavilion, SME Zone, and International Waste Pavilion, among many.

The fair will be inaugurated by Dia Mirza, who called IFAT India “a movement towards a greener, cleaner, more responsible India.

Why It Matters

According to the CPCB, India generates ~160,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste daily and ~72,000 MLD of sewage, of which only ~28% is treated. With landfill capacities nearing exhaustion in metros, IFAT India is being closely watched as a deal-making platform for both technology providers and investors in waste-to-wealth, bioenergy, and ESG-driven compliance solutions.
