The Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations outline the major global goals and challenges of our time. How can we make our planet a better world in ecological, economic and social terms—and in a sustainable way? A question that is to be answered and solved by 2030. And that requires us all to be involved—from politics and finance to industry, trade and commerce. And yes: every single one of us.
Here, IFAT plays a key role: as the world's leading trade fair for environmental technologies, it has committed itself to the implementation of the SDGs.
The focus of IFAT 2020? Innovative solutions and strategies for efficient climate protection—including the optimization of circular economy, resource efficiency, raw material recycling and the reuse of treated wastewater.
The political framework conditions are in place. Germany has adopted a far-reaching climate package, and Europe—with its Green Deal—is to become the first climate-neutral continent in the world. IFAT shows us how we can achieve this ambitious goal.
It's clear: the SDGs can only be implemented when acting together. Hence, IFAT not only offers a complete overview of technology—it also promotes close cooperation between the environmental industry and politics. The event will be opened by Federal Minister of the Environment Svenja Schulze and the Bavarian State Minister for Environmental and Consumer Protection Affairs Thorsten Glauber on May 4, 2020.
In the subsequent panel debate, well-known science journalist Dirk Steffens and international experts and environmental activists will discuss pressing issues.
An exciting discussion, with pioneering approaches for a groundbreaking future.
The exact dates and times of all lectures can be found in our calendar of events.
The new edition of the "Status Report of the German Circular Economy", which will be published at IFAT 2020, promises an industry-wide overview—especially of the effects on climate protection. The publication, which is sponsored by almost all the relevant associations and supported by Messe München, will provide a comprehensive and coordinated picture of the industry’s entire activities.
