Digitalization and sustainability each belong to the farthest-reaching and most-discussed societal change processes. However, their interaction and resulting opportunities are less often addressed. Within the water management sector numerous opportunities for the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based solutions exist especially regarding safety and efficiency of water supply and wastewater disposal. Therefore, the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection at IFAT 2022 is hosting a special event on “Artificial Intelligence in Water Management”. It will take place in form of short key notes and technology case studies as well as a panel discussion.
